Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education

Program Description

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education degree is a fully-online, one-year degree program at the graduate level that also prepares candidates to meet all requirements for certification via the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC). It is a 36 hour program that includes a practicum and internship. 

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge to incorporate ethical, legal, and professional behaviors to increase equitable educational opportunities and academic achievement for all P5 students.
  2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of P5 curriculum and apply this knowledge to the alignment of curriculum design, instruction of students, and evaluation and assessment of learning standards. \\n
  3. Utilize critical thinking skills in collaborative efforts to implement assessment practices and analyze data for monitoring and improving P5 teaching and learning through data-informed decision making.
  4. Access and conduct research into latest strategies, technologies, and methodologies and apply research findings to improve literacy rates and reading skills via appropriate choices in teaching, learning, and the promotion of positive school culture in P5 settings. \\n
  5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to improve student learning and to guide positive change.
